Links to videos in item descriptions

Thu 29 Mar 2018,, 8:38 pm

Hi ForumMates!

All of the topics related to this are quite old now and I wonder if there is any new info.

Obviously, I would love to embed a youtube video in my listing. But forget embedding, when I put a link to a youtube video in my item description (actually a link to anything), it first goes to a full-window, scary warning page and then a small text link => “I understand the risks, and would like to continue following this link.”

NO ONE is going to click on that link, and they are probably not going to return to my item listing either. Therefore, having the link to the video is probably worse for business than not having it!

[URL removed] Any news about this? Any workarounds, third-party or otherwise? Any suggestions?

Thanks very much!

Great question! At this time, you’re unable to add a video to your individual listing without receiving the “I understand the risks…” message. We see that you were able to add a video to your booth, so that’s great!

Yeah, I wouldn’t use the feature either because of this. I understand it, because my computer experience is at that level. General public doesn’t understand and would be scared away. Guess the latest news is what BonanzaJon shared above.

Nice to be able to add a shop vid though! If you have more than one shop, I suggest unloading a shop vid for each. I need to create and add one for 2 of my shops.

To Answer Brilliantly

Remember these tips:

  • Use links to other sources to support your opinions
  • Use examples where possible
  • Put yourself in the inquirers shoes: what extra info would be helpful?

Should I post a comment or an answer?

You can only post one answer, so make it count. Maybe your reply is more fitting as a comment instead?

Post an answer for:

  • Replies that directly and specifically answer the original question

Post a comment for:

  • "Thanks," "Me too," "I agree," or "Works for me" types of replies
  • When you would like the original poster to provide more details
  • When you have more to add to someone else's question or answer
