I'm confused about how ebay advertising works.

I am setting up my store in Bonanza because eBay charged me a monthly fee, to list 150 items, for my store. When I went to add items, I was notified that my account is limited to 10 items per month.

How is that for false advertising? I had to close my store down, after only 4 days, because there was no way I could recover my monthly subscription fee, plus end fees, plus PayPal fees, with only 10 items per month.

Now, I see bonanza allows my booth items to be advertised on eBay. Does this mean my items show up in eBay searches, or will my booth items count as one item listed in eBay? Which means I can only list 4 more items according to eBay limits.

I’m also confused about the percentage of sale. If my item sells on bonanza, and not as a result of eBay list, do I still have to give up 13% to eBay?

Hard to believe they would let you open a store and not notify you that there is an account limit. Does sound like something they would do.

Having Bonanza place your items on ebay is a convenient way to list your items on ebay. You can pick and choose which items you want to send to ebay. However, there is a small fee for Bonanza’s help in doing that for you. More info on that is shown below.

As far as the limitation of items that ebay allows you to list/sell, that would still apply. ebay does limit the number of items that sellers can have listed or sold on a monthly basis. They establish both a listing limitation and a dollar limit on a monthly basis. The limitation is based on your past ebay history.

As you “prove” yourself to ebay and establish a good reputation (through feedback and customer service), they will increase the number of items you are allowed to list (and sell) per month. ebay does this to help decrease the potential for seller fraud. Here is the actual limitation language directly from ebay’s website ([URL removed]

“Many sellers have limits placed on their account or on particular categories and items until they confirm certain information or establish a positive selling history. These limits help you become a successful seller, in addition to ensuring a safer experience for all eBay customers.

We have 3 types of [URL removed]
Account limits
Category limits
Item limits"

If you choose to have Bonanza place your items (advertise) on ebay, you are agreeing to pay ebay fees (for both listing/selling) AND you are agreeing to pay Bonanza a small commission for their help in putting your items on ebay.

If your item doesn’t sell on ebay, you end up paying only listing fees to ebay. If your item ends up selling on Bonanza, you are charged final value selling fees by Bonanza. Keep in mind that ebay does allow you to list 50 items per month without having to pay listing fees. Of course, Bonanza allows you to list all of your items (well, up to 25,000 to 50,000 items, I believe, depending on membership type) without paying a listing fee per item.

My understanding is that if you choose to send your items to ebay, using the option offered, then your fee will be normal ebay fee and a 1.5% bonanza fee (which I believe the 13% option covers…this is not extra but total..of which part goes to ebay and part stays here)

Does this mean my items show up in eBay searches, or will my booth items count as one item listed in eBay?

Simple answer NO..you can choose what you wish to send to ebay, your items do not automatically show on ebay

As to the number of items you can send…I do not know if your prior limitations will have any bearing on that and you will probably have to speak to support about that.. [email protected] or to someone who uses this option (I do not)

The reason it is called advertising is because the items sent from Bonanza to ebay will have a link back to bonanza

Here is more information on it

Someone from bonanza support said that anything I choose to list in eBay will count towards their limit of 10 products per month. What a stupid policy eBay has. How was anyone suppose to build a business with 10 items per month? (no response needed)

The 10 items per month is temporary for new sellers. Once you have sold a few items and have positive ratings it is lifted. It doesnt take long. I think I sold 18 items before I could list more. Typically after that your first 150 items are free to list. Watch for special notices that give you [URL removed] days to list up to 1000 free they have those fairly frequently. Read the TOS closely it explains pretty much everything.

How do you set up ebay advertising. I went to the advertise page. None of the banners like ebay, nextag, pricegrabber, etc. are working. The cursor goes from arrow to hand, but clicking on it does nothing. Is there a different way to set up ebay advertising than the advertising page?
