Are canadian sellers finding success on bonanza?

Just curious being Canadian and Bonanza being a U.S.site. Its not really set up as other sites are for Canadian Sellers, example for shipping. I imagine International sellers in general have that problem.

I personally see a lot of potential on this site and am planning on putting a lot of work in.

Any Canadians out there that want to give me there views?

I’ve been here since 08, like Cindy said, but I didn’t start listing until 09, I think.

I haven’t had as many sales as I would like, but I keep only the FREE account.

I left eBay in 08 and won’t ever go back. I do list craft supplies and some vintage on Etsy, but Bonanza gives a home to my non-vintage and other items that don’t fit Etsy requirements.

I don’t think being a US site makes a difference, as pretty much all the larger sites are US-based, so we’re always ‘outsiders’. For instance, a simple thing like marking an item shipped – We shouldn’t have to select ‘Other’ as method of shipment. I would THINK that Canada Post should be a major enough entity that they would at least be listed as an option of shipping carrier!

I agree with you about the Canada Post thing. I like a lot of other things here on this site. One of which unlike Etsy, you can build up organic Google search traffic. Unlike Etsy who redirected sellers organic traffic and made it there own. Not a big fan of Etsy. Did sell on eBay for years.

Don’t know success but

Canacreations has been here since 2008
Bookbin etc has been here since 2008
Elliemay was here for about 5 years
angiesjewelry was here for about 6 years
selah51 (who also happens to have 6 booths) been here [phone number removed]
CoconutPalmDesigns been here since 2009 and is still around but is not selling anymore
DragonsVault been here since 2009
jinx’stuff been here since 2009
tomstuff since 2009

a lot of Canadian sellers here, many were more active in the beginning, and several of these have smaller or reduced booths…

..but with the forum changes many of the sellers just don’t come and interact anymore…

I hope some come and comment…

Good Luck

Nice to know that there are a number of Canadians. But I was pondering if this was a successful site for international sellers, particularity Canadians. And looking for some opinions on the site.

Bonanza is really no different than any other venue when it comes to your own location, as the main selling venues are U.S. based. Been here awhile, but Bonanza is not what it was several years ago…for the most part the basic free booth, such as I have had since I joined several years ago, has been stripped of some seller tools & features… now if a seller wants any of those, they are expected to pay for a webstore or one of the membership levels. Have had 1 sale from Bonanza in the past year, but I do no advertising or promoting of my Bonanza booth. I also sell on Etsy where I get a few sales, from time to time, but eBay is still the best venue for my items. Bonanza has become like many other smaller venues where sellers have to invest time, lots of effort, and money to promote themselves… sellers either have to pay for their own advertising through promoted listings or promote themselves and their products/items on social media. Successful Selling on Bonanza = promote, promote, promote….
The lack of options for shipping for non-USA sellers is a pain but it is doable the way it is, just not convenient.

Thanks for the view point on the site. Its appreciated. I do believe that most sites take a lot of hard work. I am okay with that. I never heard of this site till recently is why I was asking other sellers.

They need to be Canadian oriented. They would then attracted a lot more business. Canadians are spending nearly 35 BILLION dollars online annually. Ebay’s fees are expensive but they did invest a lot into the Canadian Commerce for ebay.ca. I hope Bonanza will do the same.
