I’m making the transition to Bonanza from Ebay. I had a good run for many years and made a small fortune for both myself and for Ebay. I’m a casual seller and one of the things I loved about ebay was that I only had to write a listing for an item and if I used the right keywords someone would find it and buy it. It was SO EASY!! On Bonanza it seems like I need to either pay a substantial amount of money for a membership to have my items actually appear in a search or I have to promote my items on social media or whatever. Is that true? What am I missing? Thanks!!

I like to advertise Bonanza itself, to help the site get more traffic. The more traffic they get, the more traffic we get.

That’s true. I advertise on many different social media sites and get a good amount of traffic. I have my fees for Bonanza set at 9% because I do all my own advertising. I have not bought a membership yet because I’m still growing, and just prefer to do it myself for now.

If you are not advertising at least at the 9% level, then you are not going to get Google Shopping exposure. It’s almost a given that you need that. Monthly membership (Silver, Gold, etc.) is not required. However, there are extra benefits that you are given when subscribing to one of the membership plans.

What you’re missing is that they’re two companies, two brands, that operate very differently. I too am coming from eBay. The major difference is that you post something on eBay, wait for the sale, then close the deal… Here, there’s more to do! You have to find the buyers. Bonanza is not doing all the work, but does give you options like picking your advertising levels and memberships.

Remember these tips:
- Use links to other sources to support your opinions
- Use examples where possible
- Put yourself in the inquirers shoes: what extra info would be helpful?
Should I post a comment or an answer?
You can only post one answer, so make it count. Maybe your reply is more fitting as a comment instead?
Post an answer for:
- Replies that directly and specifically answer the original question
Post a comment for:
- "Thanks," "Me too," "I agree," or "Works for me" types of replies
- When you would like the original poster to provide more details
- When you have more to add to someone else's question or answer
