I was told that my items will not be picked up by Google Shopping unless I include either a UPC or MPN code. I am about to list a promotional item that has neither. On another website I was told to enter the word “Exempt” in the UPC field in that case, and the site would set the code to something that Google Shopping would understand.
I’ll bet the magic word here is something else, but I can’t find anything about it in the Bonanza selling tips.

You do not enter anything. When the feed is formatted for submission [[identifier_[URL removed] will be entered in place of the missing upc, mpn or isbn (for books). Books do not need upc/mpn only isbn
However, if one exists (and checking online for other listings can give you the information), you should make every effort to add it if you can

Remember these tips:
- Use links to other sources to support your opinions
- Use examples where possible
- Put yourself in the inquirers shoes: what extra info would be helpful?
Should I post a comment or an answer?
You can only post one answer, so make it count. Maybe your reply is more fitting as a comment instead?
Post an answer for:
- Replies that directly and specifically answer the original question
Post a comment for:
- "Thanks," "Me too," "I agree," or "Works for me" types of replies
- When you would like the original poster to provide more details
- When you have more to add to someone else's question or answer
