What are my options as a buyer?

Hi all…

This is my first time EVER purchasing an item from a seller on Bonanza… and so far it’s not going smoothly at all.

I bought an item on Oct 21. The sellers terms stated items ship within 3 business days, their feedback was good (99.6%), and the price was good. So after the purchase the ONLY order confirmation I received was the payment notification from PayPal. Not sure if that is standard or not, but nothing from the seller… no order confirmation, no thank you… just silence. That left me a little uneasy, but hey… I thot maybe that’s the way it works on Bonanza.

SO, 3 days have come and gone and still nothing from the seller, no email saying the item has shipped, no tracking info entered here in Bonanza, just nothing. I sent one of those auto messages thru Bonanza asking where my package was… no response. I wrote to the seller asking what the status of the order is and the seller is still completely ignoring me.

At this point I would like to just cancel the order and get a refund, but apparently that’s not an option? So where’s my buyer protection? I purchased this item in good faith, paid promptly, and have nothing.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on how to proceed?

9 days now… and still not one peep out of the seller. Just silence… like a big black hole. :-(

OMG… PayPal gave seller until Nov 9th to reply. Meanwhile I have a mattress just sitting on the floor. So much for seller protection. UGH!

I meant buyer protection. Cards seem stacked in sellers favor from my perspective. From now on using Credit Card and NOT paypal

My other comment disappeared. PayPal gave seller until Nov 9th to reply. Protection seems to favor seller… certainly not buyer. sigh

Sorry that you are having trouble with your order, but it may not be your worst nightmare. It certainly would have been good for the seller to acknowledge your order and supply some details. However, I’d give it a little more time…

When it stated that the “items ship within 3 business days”, that notice is simply stating that the seller will package and then ship out your package within those 3 business days. It does not mean that the package will arrive within 3 days.

Your purchase on Oct. 21 may not have been seen by the seller until the next day (Oct. 22). Then, when you add 3 business days to the processing time, the seller might not have shipped your item until Tuesday, October 27.

Take a look at the seller’s profile to check his/her feedback rating and the day he/she was last on Bonanza. You should have concerns if the feedback is low or if the seller has not been on Bonanza for awhile.

Your buyer protection will come from PayPal refunding your funds. PayPal does allow 30 days for the package to arrive, but you can make a refund claim up to 45 days (possibly longer) for an item that was not received.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for the reply. I didn’t expect to see my item in 3 days… but I did expect it would at least be handed off to FedEx, USPS or someone at the end of the 3 days. I think my biggest concern is the absolute silence on the part of the seller. :-(

If you paid through paypal, then yes that is standard to receive notification from paypal. You can also use that notification (and transaction #) at paypal to request a refund due to non arrival if you cannot get in contact with the seller.

Please contact bonanza directly at [email protected] with the paypal transaction number, so that they can check on the seller.

Also note, since I do not know who you purchased from….and it may be an extreme off chance, but we have had a seller pass away recently and the family is trying to close the sales, but may be a bit behind right now…

Feedback for the most part is transferred from other sites. I would recommend checking the person’s profile to see how long they have been here, and also when checking FB, check how many of transactions they actually have on bonz…
