Unexplained $25 charge to my account, has it happened to anyone else?

I have emailed Bonanza’s customer support a few times, and received 1 email response that was the same each time.
We have been a seller for about 6 months and this is the first time we have received a charge for $25.

It was for the month of December, which we had a whopping total of $1.14 in owed fees, but they charged us $25. In November it was 9.33, which is what we were charged, in January it was $9.70, which is what we were charged. This 25$ isn’t necessarily a large number but if they are doing this to thousands of people it would be a pretty large cash grab.

Any insight would be appreciative.

We definitely never tried the free gold membership nor did we purchase a webstore.

Here is what they had said in their response to my question.

“Sellers who have less than 3 months of successful final value fees paid will have their final value fees automatically charged to the card on file each time their final value fees reach $ 25.00. All other sellers will have their final value fees automatically charged to the card on file each time their final value fees reach $ 100.00.”

We were paid and up to date on all fees before this, and have remained up to date on all fees after this. I may be failing to understand something here, and just want some clarification :)

This is an official Bonanza response.

Hello @ganserscientific,

Thank you for reaching out and so sorry for the confusion. It looks like you had some unpaid offers in December. Seller fees are assessed when a buyer makes a “Buy it Now” purchase, or once a seller accepts an offer. This is in place so that sellers are not tempted to circumvent the Bonanza checkout system to bypass seller fees (per our user agreement, all transactions must be completed via the Bonanza checkout system). Once you accept an offer, the buyer then has 7 days to complete the transaction. If they do not make payment within 7 days, sellers have the option to mark the offer as “unpaid”.

Marking an offer as “unpaid” will do two things; automatically re-list the item(s) in the offer, and remove any associated billing fees from your Bonanza statement. However, if you have reached the $25 threshold, your card will be automatically charged the fees per the instructions you received from the support department. If you mark an offer as “unpaid” after your fees have been paid, the transaction will fall off your bill, however the fees will not be automatically refunded. In the event of an overpayment on your Bonanza billing statement, please let us know at [email protected] so that we may manually process a refund. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We have refunded the overpayment on your December bill back to your card on file. Please allow 3-7 business days for the funds to appear back in your account. If you have additional questions, please let us know at our support department and we’ll be happy to further clarify. Thanks!

The charge is probably due to a trial Gold membership that you didn’t cancel before the automated renewal date. Or, you purchased a Bonanza Webstore. Both of those incur a charge of approximately $25 each month.

Bonanza’s response means that if you accumulate $25 or more in FVF before their normal payment date at the beginning of each month, then they will charge those fees immediately. I’m not sure what you exact situation is, but if that doesn’t apply to your situation, then you’ll need to re-contact them

You should be able to see what the $25 charge was for by looking under your Fees tab and checking the monthly statements. All fees paid to Bonanza are detailed there.

Same thing has happened to me but WORSE! My Bonanza fees go straight to one of my designated credit cards, which is fine….but, I use Stripe as a payment processor….so, when Stripoe receives payment (minus Bonanza fees) they deduct a stripe fee, which is fine, AND a 2ND bonanza FEE! I`ve emailed Bonanza about this and I`ve received no response as to why I`m being billed twice for fees (and I can prove it)….please help thanks
