UGH, just spent the last TWO Hours updating my ship prices because USPS started the new XMAS Surge increase in ship costs. Did it manually because I have tried batch edit on stuff here (Twice) and both times it did not work for me. Messed things up worse than if I went in individually so fool me once and fool me twice and NEVER AGAIN. Perhaps I do something incorrect so YMMV.
What a drag this is to adjust shipping costs AGAIN year after year but its just not something I can absorb. Sometimes I let it pass but ship prices from USPS is just obscene now. In some cases MORE than the cost of the item but IF I can combine shipping, that’s where I can offer maybe some cost savings but my items vary so much in size and weight and ship types and distance pricing, cant put in any sort of generic combine rate anyway. But I seldom get multi item orders here. Not asking for help, just an FYI to check your shipping rates if you do flat costs for shipping. If calculated, HOPE Bonz is on the ball for the price increases

The constant changes in USPS postal rates annoy me to no end. So, I find it easier to use FREE shipping (which of course, it is not — but it’s buried into my prices). If I can’t absorb the shipping increase, I can simply increase my prices by a small percentage using batch editor. Since the USPS rate increase is supposed to be temporary (through Christmas shipping), I can quickly reduce my prices back to original amounts.
For example, to raise your prices 10%, put a NEGATIVE 10% (-10) into the batch editor field where it asks you to apply a discount. Then, when you want to reverse the change, apply a POSITIVE 9.09% (9.09) into the discount box and you will get your original price back.
The best method to do this is to use the Batch Editor. Sort your FOR SALE items (by name), and then apply the discount to ONE PAGE of items at a time. I always do a screen shot of each page, so that if any changes get messed up, I have an image I can look at and I’ve never messed up more than ONE page of items. Frankly, though, I’ve never had the Batch Editor mess up on me.
Here’s a list of common percentages to increase prices and the percentages you need to restore the prices back to the original. Remember, these numbers go into the APPLY DISCOUNT box on the Batch Editor Item Basics page. DON’T put the percentage sign into the box… it’s already there by default. Just enter the number.
To RAISE prices…….USE this NUMBER………To RESTORE, use this NUMBER
5% -5 4.76
10% -10 9.09
15% -15 13.1
20% -20 16.7
If you’re doubtful, try it on ONE item first. But, I’ve been doing this for several years and it works. If you’re interested in the math behind it, I can explain it to you as I was a high school math teacher.
Good luck.

The way I see it, I’m going to be the one paying the difference anyway, either by reducing my shipping costs (to compete and keep my items affordable) or by paying more in label fees. So I’m doing nothing and letting it work itself out. Why go to all the trouble of trying to level/mediate/fix all your shipping costs when it’s not going to matter in the end.
Whatever you do, you’re going to make less profit. Buyers aren’t going to shop at these sites if they feel the shipping costs are too high. Certainly not for jewelry, clothes and other everyday items. The only sellers who might have a chance in “H-E double L L” of selling through these high shipping costs are those with collectibles and hard-to-find items.
