Louis vuitton help...

While at a yard sale in the super expensive neighborhood down the road from me, I found a Louis Vuitton cloth bag that you would store one of their purses in. I am wondering if it has any value at all and if so, what I should price it at.
Thanks for any help you can give me. :)

What I do is send my pictures of my purses to ‘My Poupette’ professional handbag authenticating service. They charge a small fee, but will authenticate the bag for you and they specialise in LV!

The best part, is that PayPal and most online shopping sites, accept their expertise as valid, and you have NO question after they tell you if it is authentic or not. They will also give you CORRECT info about the bag style and what the resale value is.

This way you know if you can list it or not, and no one can report it or file a dispute and claim it is not authentic.

My Poupette also settles disputes for Pay Pal when a buyer claims a bag is fake and wants to return. It is a great service for both the seller and the buyer.I highly recommend them. Just do a google search for ‘My Poupette’ and check it out! Just send them an email and they will tell you how to proceed. They are very helpful.

OOPS! I just noticed you don’t have an actual purse, but the dust cover. Dust covers can be faked also, but it probably wouldn’t be worth it to pay My Poupette, to authenticate a dust cover. I have seen LV dust covers go between 50 – 100.00 or more, depending, on feebay auctions, . But you can’t list a fake dust cover either. There are some handbag forums you can go to also, they may be able to tell you. Good luck!

Hi Phoenix, designer dustcovers don’t really sell for much and are muchmore better to keep as a novelty thing. Great question thou!

You are talking about a tan dust bag (aka sleeper bag), right? Probably made of flannel or woven cotton with a printed brown LV logo? Sadly these are faked as much as actual LV bags, so I totally think it is worth trying to get it authenticated before selling it. However, I’m not sure how much you would get for it (I am guessing maybe $20-30ish, if it is real, but I really have no idea) so I would not be willing to pay a lot to get it authenticated.

The LV store, if you have one, will verbally authenticate bags for free. They won’t give you anything in writing, but I have taken two bags in that I bought used, and they were happy to give them a look over and confirm that they were authentic. I am assuming that they would do the same for a dust bag.

Hope this helps!

Authenticated or not, dust bags aren’t really worth much. I’ve worked in high-end resale and we’d get so many we would just give them away. However, if you do have a Louis the duster well add value to the purse.

Personally I would not list it unless I was perfectly sure it was authentic,JMHO

But if you do decide to list it, Just Google it to see the value.

Another thing you might consider is to go to one of the places where they sell LV (Macy’s?) or a boutique, and just casually ask if the tote you have is authentic or a knock off, Just explain that you bought it in a yard sale, But be ready to give it up if it’s a fake.

I think that super expensive neighborhood is a front for Louis Vuitton scam artists and homeless people!

I would also take it to a retailer to confirm its authenticity.
