Is there a particular size or file type for importing product pictures?

I have been trying jpg, png, bmp and gif files, as well as altering the sizes of my pictures to import into my Item For Sale Page and seem to be having a great deal of trouble!

Can you recommend what size and what file type is best please?
Thank you

.jpg
though jpeg and png also work

Try to keep the pictures to a 1 to 1.25 ratio…I try to keep mine in the 800 to 1000 pixel on the longest side… normally in the 1000 × 800 size…

If they are too big uploading may not go as smoothly

I can assue and confirm that e.g. 2670×2092 was uploaded without trouble (this photo is in the existing listing)

and it was automatically resized by B. to 1600×1230

so, I guess, maybe 1600 is their max size

didn’t say you couldn’t load a larger one, just recommended that sometimes it is easier to resize before uploading…and there was a time here when photos were not resize and it was a recommendation to limit the size to about 122

Sorry not 122 but 1200 × 1000

" sometimes it is easier to resize before uploading…" yes, and it’s especially good, when somebody want to place photos in the description – they are ready this way

I can see in your listings one small gif and one, also small, jpg picture (380×340px, 26,7 KB).

I was uploading much bigger pictures (about 1 to 2 MB) and I’ve never had any problem.

So maybe try to upload a little bigger photos (e.g. on some other websites they require at least 1,5 MB size).

But when I place pictures in the descriptions, I lower a little bit their size (up to ~ 0,5 MB)

your picture will be automatically formatted to fit and there is some limitations on the supported format.

Hope this help.
