The last couple of times I’ve received offers on items there was no “counteroffer” option available to me. Is that how it is now? Just wondering…

Well. Hmph. They didn’t give much in the way of an actual reason… Ah, well.
I almost always have had to counteroffer when I get an OBO offer, like seriously almost every time. And it’s always for the same reason. You know what I’m gonna say… Shipping! Buyers don’t understand that shipping is supposed to be included in their offer, and if they do understand that, they have no IDEA how much an item should cost to ship. I asked my adult son recently how much he thought, off the top if his head, that it would cost for me to mail a jigsaw puzzle to him. He shrugged and said, “I dunno, a couple dollars?” Um hmm.
Typically, for me, offers go like [URL removed] I get the offer, I counteroffer with a nice little note that basically says, “Hey, I’m really accepting your offer, but I just had to add shipping ‘cuz it’s gonna cost $X.XX,” then they accept and we all go on our merry way. The birds sing, unicorns jump over rainbows, and there is great rejoicing throughout the land.
Now the happy is all crushed!
Sigh. Anyways, it is what it is. Thanks for your answer, Carolyn. :)
