Installing office 2016

I have all of the codes to install Office 2016 purchased from Bonanza. The first instruction is to uninstall any prior versions of Office. It does say anything about backing up Outlook files (I have those & My Docs backed up). My specific question is; Does the new 2016 automatically pick-up the old Office files or is an Import necessary?

My old version is Office Enterprise 2007.

Typically, when uninstalling an application (like MS Office), the uninstaller will only delete the programs (and not the files you created). That is because your documents are usually stored in a separate location than the application “pieces”. In some software application uninstalls, it will ask if you also want to delete the files too (but you don’t want to do that).

The new version of MS Office should still see and recognize your files.
