I've heard a lot about twitter but does it really help in advertising your products?

I don’t have a twitter account (YET). Before I go into all the process to establish a twitter account I’d like to hear from others if they really have had much success with sales using twitter for advertising?

Is there a lot to do to maintain this type account?

I am thinking that twitter has helped me. If not twitter then I do not know what. I sold 7 things this month which does not seem alot but wasnt selling anything before I started twittering and putting myself out there.

I have gotten a few sales from tweeting. I use Tweet Deck and also retweet other Bonanzlers using Tweet Deck. They tweet from their booth many times, all my followers show up in the Tweet Deck and I retweet their tweets. It is a win/win situation. I also not only tweet items, I tweet promtions and others things going on in Bonanzle. I only spend about 30 minutes or less per day tweeting so it is only as time consuming as you make it. Jan

What you get out of twitter will be directly related to what you put into it. Building relationships, following others of substance and sharing items of substance will definitely help you build a viable twitter account.
Mixing it up with retweeting, tweeting links and tweets without links, and sharing when you do find something of value like a good blog or article, these are great way to maintain your twitter account.
Remember, engage, educate and entertain. And when you retweet others, they are more likely to return the favor.
Lastly, if your entire twitter stream is just constant links to your Bonanzle items, having quality followers is doubtful. Having a lot of followers is great, but are they really listening?

Hope that helps,
Phaedra

Twitter helps in many ways. One of the best is that it brings traffic to your item and traffic is part of the algorithm that google uses for products to advance in search listings..Twitter is all about how you use it creatively to market to a customer base.

I’ve not had any sales from Twitter, but items that have been tweeted definitely see an increase in views.

As to maintenance, how much time you spend on it is up to you. Tweet a few times a day, maybe retweet some of your followers tweets, engage socially for a bit. I think I’ve spent at most an hour or so per day with it. Others will probably have a different take on it.

Hope that helps a little.

I have tweeted items that are just posted and seen an immediate increase in traffic for that item. I can’t say that I have gotten more sales from Twitter at this point, but it has increased traffic. In my opinion, it is easy to tweet from Bonanzle, increases traffic and may lead to additional sales.

wow…yes i agree too! I tweeted my items and saw lot of traffic on that instantly!…though still waiting for any purchase..but views have been increased via twitter!

I do use twitter, and everytime I put something out there I have listed my views do increase. I will tweet my items, and items of others as I roam the booths too.

Not sure if any of my sales have come from there, but I do get views. If I get views then someone will buy, and if it keeps bringing people in to look, well..that is getting the name out there more too.

I don’t spend a lot of time with it as I do not want to upset people with only showing items for sale. If they see too much of listings all the time they will become uninterested in watching me. So, I will make comments to people about things discussed, and etc. Leave a note, wishing well, etc.

Hey, every little bit helps with all that we can do for ourselves, and for others [URL removed]

It definitely brings more views. The more the views, the more chances of a sale.

I personally have not seen any sales come from Twitter.
But not as active with it, as I should be. I think with anything
the more active you are, the better your sales will be.

I think twitter is one of the best ways to advertise your items for free! I check my booth stats often and find that the items being viewed the most are the items I tweet. It’s all about getting these potential buyers to your store, twitter can do it.

I have noticed a lot more views from my tweets.

I get alot of views from Twitter when my booth was open here, and also on other sites I sell on. However, it doesn’t appear as if too many, if any, have produced sales. I think most of my sales come from the site members or Google.

I found using this site helpful when creating the Twitter links that I post to my booth/[URL removed] [URL removed]

With using this URL shortner, you can track how many views to your booth come from Twitter when you link an item (need to create a free account in order to do this).
There are a couple of other sites out there that do this same thing but I’ve only used this one. With using this program, I’ve also noticed that occasionally other Bonanzle members have been re-tweeting my links so their followers can be directed to my booth.

Twitter brings in more views but so does Facebook. And facebook has brought me sales. I do not believe Twitter has. :)

Twitter gives you exposure. Exposure gives you more possible sales. Do it!

Tweet away! About 2 months ago, I began tracking items that I tweeted in my booth as well as my friends booths. The results [URL removed] Views increased drastically for the items tweeted (in most cases, the view count doubled and even tripled)! Those increased views did lead to a few good sales!!! As mentioned, make use of your facebook and myspace accounts as well! Each time that you get your name out there, you improve your chances of having some good sales!

I know I have gotten at LEAST one sale from twitter, my buyer told me so. I tweet my own things, and for people who visit my booth, and I have gotten feedback from my visitors that they have also sold a few items, so as far as Twitter, Yes, I believe it helps us, ‘specially if we don’t spam things up too much.

answered about 14 years ago

I have noticed tweeted items also show up in google search. So its a win win. If I don’t tweet for a day, my views are way down. I think it is well worth the effort.

Twitter is good, but lets face it. Facebook is where it’s at. But it’s easy to get the best of both worlds!

Simply sign up for Facebook and link it to your twitter account (easyily done through Facebook tools).

Everything you post on Facebook is duplicated on Twitter. Twice the results for half the work!

In the beginning, I did not see any benefit from tweeting, however, now that tweets come up when a buyer searches for a product, it allows an additional opportunity to be visible in Google organic searches.

I have sold several things lately that were specifically tweeted and were older products, so I have to believe the sales were because of this.

They almost certainly increase your views, but conversions are based on whether you have what the buyer is really looking for and the information in your listing, as well as trustability.
