I dislike the Ebay owned Paypal and there fees. I am considering doing away with it and also getting off Feebay after 18 years. Does anyone on here have any success not using Paypal and what do you use? I understand that Google Checkout is no longer an option but I didn’t like it anyway.. let me know your opinion.

There are several who use just cash, check, or MO…
There are a some who use just Checkout by Amazon (CBA), here is the set-up instructions

many just used GCO, but no longer an option
There are a few who put links in listings to third party credit card processors, but that involves dealing directly with the seller’s accounts and not bonanza and buyers usually do not want to put up the hassle..
Bonanza is now checking into direct credit card checkout options…
As to their success, hopefully, they will come by the forum and see your question…

When you receive payment through CBA, do you get a notice just like with Paypal?

Dear Sci_Fi_Shop ~ No one likes fees, but that is the nature of the beast!
I have been selling online since 1985 and IMO, you must take Paypal and just suck it up, or incorporate the fees in your shipping costs or prices. I also have a merchant account (not used here) and even WITH an A+ credit rating, all the fees they have every month comes to roughly 5%. Most vendors are paying more than that, to accept credit cards on their website, when you add up ALL the monthly fees with the bank and Authorize.net.
Everyone knows and trusts Paypal and they have very good seller protection policy when you use delivery confirmation and ONLY ship to the confirmed Paypal address.
The best business practice you can implement, in any business, is to take all costs into consideration in your pricing. That’s just the way it works!
Personally, I do not accept checks or money orders. It slows my business down and puts items on hold for customers who may or may not pay. Checks can also take as long as 4 weeks to clear and with banks today, you cant find out if it is clear or not. Money orders also invite the scammers; there are fake postal money orders out there – so beware. When scammers see you take money orders, and you may get a big order with a RUSH on it, and you will know they are going to send you a money order they printed on their printer!
Sincerely ~ Veronica

PayPal and Amazon are about the two most popular forms of payment. Some of us also offer USPS money order but very few use that option in my experience. I’ve read that PayPal and ebay may part company at some point. Not sure of the validity of that rumor. Sometimes we just have to bite the bullet and deal with those we dislike in order to service our customers. After-all they are the ones using PayPal.

When I just took money orders and checks, my sales were slow. Once I accepted paypal, my sales skyrocketed. Despite not liking the company, they are useful.

I have decided not to do business with PayPal and everything has been great. At first, selling gets a bit slow, but it will pick up eventually once more people get used to it. Just remember to make your listings as good as possible with pictures and clear descriptions. I used both Google Checkout and Checkout By Amazon exclusively, and since Google Checkout is gone, Checkout By Amazon has been just fine. The differences between these payment options and PayPal are very noticeable.
I checked your items and it seems to be fine to use CBA. However, you should be able to sell much more once Bonanza adds a new credit card processor to the site. I suggest you also sell on other sites like Craigslist or Ecrater to expand your audience without having to deal with PayPal. Opening your own site with a credit card processor seems to be an option too.
Checks and Money Orders are definitely an option, but not many buyers will use it here.
