I was just at the post office today and packages that weigh between 14 ounces to 1 pound can no longer ship at first class mail.
Too bad. This came in quite handy during this past year.

14 oz to 16 oz packages within the USA can still ship as first class mail, just not when you go to the post office and pay directly at the counter.
Thanks.

Not sure that that is true in every case. If you ship First Class Package Service, or use PayPal shipping (also through eBay), then you can still print labels for up to 16 oz. I believe that is part of the Commercial Base Pricing (CBP) break that selling sites (that offer shipping labels) get for their sellers.
Personally, I don’t use the Bonanza shipping so I couldn’t tell you if they are limited to 13 ounces or not. For my Benz orders, I go to PayPal and create my shipping labels there.
I think the trick is that you have to use a shipping service like PayPal, stamps.com, endicia.com, or perhaps Bonanza to get the CBP. If you go to the Post Office and do it over the counter, you will be limited to 13 ounces.
I shipped out several 14-15 ounce packages just today using First Class Packaging and PayPal shipping to print the labels.

Thanks, Tom.
I’m not referring to first class package service. Just first class mail within the United states. But I did not know that it is strictly available only on sites like PP.
I did go on the USPS website to check a package at 1 pound after this happened when shipping a package at the post office today. First class mail did not come up as a choice. Maybe the USPS does not operate the same as Paypal then.
This is where a thread should be able to be deleted since now it serves no purpose.
