Have you ever been a victim of charge back fraud? how did you deal with it?

I am new at Bonanza. I have noted that on other forums charge back fraud is a common problem. Since Paypal is the only payment option here, I am curious to know if other sellers have had this problem.

I’m sorry, I don’t know what ‘charge back’ is. I’m pretty ignorant of this stuff.

The best way to combat the charge back fraud saga is to require Signature upon receiving the item. As buyers can get ruthless and Paypal mantra of “the buyer always right” doesn’t really help sellers. So I’d recommend shipping with a serious courier if the item is pricey such as DHL/FEDEX/UPS.

I have never had it happen on Bonanza. I did one time on ebay when I sold a $900.00 model train. The buyer claimed they didn’t purchase it. I had it sent with signature required and they had gone to the post office to get it.
I submitted a copy of the signature card along with tracking showing it delivered to ebay. The credit card company got a picture from the post office camera showing the guy picking it up. I won the case and the credit card company filed police charges against the guy for fraud.

Though I don’t understand what ‘charge back fraud’ is, I’ve not remembered having any serious problems with PayPal.
I did have an issue on Etsy forwarding the product to a different address they forwarded it through USPS, not the site and then claimed they didn’t get the item.
This person was doing this to a lot of people on Etsy.
I complained about this to Etsy. Apparently Etsy was aware of this scam and didn’t make me pay the customer back.
Unawares to the scammer, apparently, USPS DID end up showing the forwarded info on the tracking. So I think that’s what saved me from having to give the money back.

A “charge back” is when someone buys an item and charges it on their credit card. Then after they get item, they contact their credit card company and file a complaint claiming they did not buy item. And usually credit card company removes the charge and the person got the item for free.

And you are out of the money and the item sold. That is what charge back fraud is.
