Fradulent seller

On 4/25 I purchased a computer processor here on bonanza.

The pictures clearly showed the retail packaging and the description made no mention that it was an OEM item.

The ad also clearly stated it was shipping from
Falls Church VA, US
And that it had a 1-5 business day shipping time.

Now, after 5 days, I contacted the seller and was informed that
1. It is shipping from China, not the US.
2. It has a 1-4 week delivery time, not 1-5 days.
3. It is an OEM part, and not a retail part, and thus has a much worse warranty.

After a lot of conversation, the gist is that the seller can’t cancel it as he already shipped it, but none of the issues were known until after it shipped.
Bonanza support tells me I have to wait until I receive the item to discuss a refund, and the seller refuses one.
Sellers offer to fix the warranty issue is a promise to replace it for free if there is ever an issue.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you

Since posting this, I’ve learned that I’m not the only person who this seller is scamming. Another person contacted me having bought a processor from this seller 10 days prior to me, they are still waiting and have had no luck.

This is an official Bonanza response.

Hello DanB1073,

We are so sorry to hear about your experience with your purchase from this seller. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention so that our team can investigate this further.

Once an order is shipped a seller is unable to cancel an order.
When you receive your order and if it is not as described you may file a dispute with the payment processor.

Dan, we are so sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.

While I appreciate your response, I don’t see the point in waiting for it to arrive. With the fact that I could be waiting weeks for it to arrive and the seller has already acknowledged it is not as it was described in the sale page.

Just to spell it out. I made my order on 4/25 and it was flagged as shipped on 4/26. I was expecting it by 5/1 based on the shipping time that was listed. I have been waiting almost 2 weeks now, and it could be 2 more, however the tracking info shows it has not even left china yet.

It may be delayed further by Covid-19. That is why I intentionally bought from someone who was listed as a US seller. By your logic, I should wait 1-2 more weeks to look at the package and say “yes, that’s not what I ordered”, even though the seller has already confirmed it is not.
DanB1073 May 06, 2020

At that point, it will have been 4 weeks and I still won’t have the part I need to have a functioning computer. Then, I can begin the process of asking for a refund from a seller who has already lied to me multiple times, and has already refused refund? How is that advice even remotely helpful?

Sounds like it was a drop-shipped item. You can’t expect a refund until the item is either not received or you return it as not as described. The payment processor (PayPal, etc) may have to be involved in any potential refund case.

It’s already 5 days past the max delivery date. And the seller has confirmed the item is not what was advertised. Is waiting until it’s received really necessary?

@DanB1073… Your payment source will keep you protected with a refund, if necessary. However, you can’t expect a refund when the item is currently in transit to you, since there is no guarantee that you wouldn’t keep said item after getting a refund.

DanB1073 May 06, 2020

@tomwayne1 By that logic, a seller can ship me a box of rocks in place of what i purchased and make me wait for it to arrive before they give me a refund. I didn’t pay for or ask for what the seller sent, what happens to it is not my concern.

You can file a claim with PayPal (or other payment processor) an Item Not Received. However, you more than likely will have to wait for the refund (for the reason I stated above). But, it wouldn’t hurt to initiate a claim if delivery is outside the expected date.

Just go to your payment processor and file an Item Not Received claim.

Once you’ve placed the order, you have no control over the shipping process. Once you place the order you can track it thought PKGE internal inventory tracking system! The data that is gathered will truly give FedEx a great look at the supply chain around the world. The added benefit is that the data of customers will be kept safe on this platform. [URL removed]
