One day we had projected views of 324 on our listings, but the actual views later on dropped way down to only a handful or so.

Keep in mind those are ‘Projected’ views as in just a guess. Your actual views are what you want to look at, I usually check the next day. I have a log from the last 3 years and it definitely tells a story.

I have noticed this too. There has to be a time element in the algorithm. So, if you get a view early in the morning, it will spike projections. And, I do believe that even though the text on how it is calculated says it does not count my views. I do not agree. I had a spike on the day I was looking at items on Google shopping. And, I believe that the items that got viewed were the ones I looked at, one of which got 5 views and it should have been counted zero times. I used to have mine set up in Google analytics but that was years ago.
