For some reason, I cannot figure this out. I want to delete items in a batch. I do not see deleting as a batch as an option.

You will be able to delete your items in bulk by using the Bulk Editor.

Batch Edit (update items as a group)
item basics
The very first option is Delete items
Select the items you wish to delete from list
Select Delete
Click on Apply Changes (items selected)
If you do several ie whole pages at a time it can take a few minutes for the items/changes to appear
