Yesterday I provided a tracking # and sent the buyer a message giving him the date his item would arrive and thanking him for his purchase. This morning I received an email (not a Bonanza message) from the buyer asking for the tracking #. I replied to his email asking him to log into his Bonanza account where he could see his tracking # and the message I sent him. I had to go out for a bit and when I got back I had a voice mail from the buyer asking for the tracking #.
I’m curious how others communicate with their buyers. I have always preferred to keep the communication within the messaging system of the selling venue in case there are issues so the venue can easily see all of the communication. Not that sending a tracking # via email is a big deal, but, I think it’s safer for both the buyer and the seller to stay within the messaging system of the venue. Your thoughts?

I Send in an outside email from Bonanza a message to them and always include a tracking number if the item has one. (some of my items can go letter mail so no tracking on those but that is explained in the items description.)
Not sure it is WISE to " sent the buyer a message giving him the date his item would arrive " because unless you have some magic transport device for shipping, most people have absolutely NO control on how fast the shipper moves the item thru their system once it is put in someone else’s hands. All sorts of things can go awry including Weather issues, Holidays, Sick Days and general mis-routing by the carrier to delay delivery of your package. You probably don’t want to tell them when their package will arrive. Just my opinion.

By default, Bonanza messages are also sent to the Bonanza user’s personal email address. Ask your buyer (through his/her personal email account) to make sure that their junk/spam filter is set up to receive email notifications from Bonanza. Then, tell the buyer that all future messages will be sent through Bonanza’s messaging system and they he/she needs to log into Bonanza to check messages.

“I have always preferred to keep the communication within the messaging system of the selling venue in case there are issues so the venue can easily see all of the communication.”
“… sending a tracking # via email is [not] a big deal…”
I agree with both of Your sentences.
I also prefer to use the official msg system of the site.
But sometime an unexpected glitch can occur and buyer may not receive a message, so – especially that they ask You to send the tracking # again – I believe You should add it in the e-mail You send to them today as well.
Just to make it easier for them and out of courtesy (a simple copy/paste and only then to add this [URL removed] “asking him to log into his Bonanza account where he could see his tracking # and the message I sent him”.

Yes I think it is easy enough to send the info both ways (Bonanza message and also email) if the buyer has specifically emailed you. Then you can also do a “PS” to let them know in the future to check their Bonanza messages (or make sure it’s not going into their spam folder).
