I am new to Bonanza and have not yet listed anything until I understand more about this format. Has anyone had good results selling on just Bonanza? I would like to move away from EBAY completely. Also, why are there FVF on shipping? EBAY does this as well. USPS already charges exorbitant fees for shipping and I have always done my best to find the least expensive method for my customers but I feel as though sellers are being penalized for not offering free shipping.

Unfortunately, Bonanza is not what it once was – sales on Bonanza for me were Ok several years ago,but not so anymore…Bonanza was an up and coming venue with great potential when I joined back in 2009. But, like most other selling venues, greed has taken over and now it’s not so much about advertising the Bonanza site or getting the Bonanza name known out there, as it is about their seller services, advertising levels, membership levels, webstore, etc. To have a basic free booth gives very little in return. Most of the seller tools & features that the free basic booth had several years ago have been stripped away & only accessible through membership levels or webstores. Sellers looking for answers as to low views &/or low sales, will get the usual Bonanza response that will be a push for you to consider a membership level, and/or direct you to read up on all the ways to bring your own traffic to your booth. These days my sales from Bonanza are so few & so far between = 2 sales in the past 12 months, but I will not give in to spending $ for a membership here.I am very happy that I never left eBay, as 99.9% of my sales are from eBay.
Bonanza mirrors eBay in a lot of ways so the encouragement for free shipping is here just like on eBay. I don’t do free shipping here or on eBay.
I do not do social media and there is so little traffic to this site that unless a seller is going to promote, promote, promote and do the social media thing, it can get rather discouraging here. This site no longer works for me, but I wish all new comers good luck & good success. Give it a go and see what happens…

I’ll let others relay their feelings about Bonanza success, but to let you know, I have had very good success with selling here. I also have to mention the ease of use and helpful staff.
While eBay does charge FVF on shipping amounts, Bonanza allows up to $10 in shipping charges to be subtracted from the sales total before they charge their FVF. In other words, you are not charged on the first $10 in shipping charges.

I would like to explain with eBay you will get tons of views & sales by literally just posting your products do to there large customer base . As for Bonanza you need to put work into your advertisement on social media , locally , and create a google advertising campaign . I feel with out these elements it is very hard to be successful on Bonanza since not as many have heard of this site . I have also realized that once you have taken these steps it is highly important to make sure if listing in multiple marketplaces (eBay,Amazon,Bonanza, etc) to always discount your items to match the saving you would be charged in fees initially. This will allow your customers to save a couple dollars and hopefully drive more traffic to your booth while truly losing no money . Still even after doing that my sales are only about 20% of what I do on eBay , but i do still sell a lot more of my exotic / expensive items on here then eBay . My average sale on Bonanza compared to eBay is almost double if that’s worth anything to you . Wish you the best of luck !!!

In my opinion this is a wonderful place to open an online shop. While it is true you will get less views than on eBay, the quality is much better & there is far less you need to do to maintain a booth. Having a booth here is free & you pay a small percent of each sale. things like not having to relist, edit, pay extra fees, all the maintenance & listing work as eBay saves me a lot of time. you also get 10 tokens each day just for coming to the website & clicking a button, these get you discounts on selling fees. support is very helpful. I have done pretty well on here, I have a Facebook page for it with a link, which I post a few photos with descriptions each month, but doesn’t seem to do much. I also have a small display (just jewelry) in an office, where I have business cards & now also a sign about my website here. other than that I have not done any advertising or promotion (keeping costs down) & even still I have had pretty regular sales. It is good to list a large number of items on here to make up for decreased traffic & I have found it very helpful to have a variety of items listed, that has helped my sales tremendously. I also list new items every week, sometimes every 2 or 3 days, to keep new items up here & keep it interesting. Bonanza is an extremely low cost easy to use selling format, your items basically stay listed forever until you sell them or delete it, so its low maintenance & any sale is good. Best of luck to you!!!

Hello Corner_[URL removed]
I believe I read in a post here that one reason for FVF including shipping is because of seller abuse. Apparently, some were deflating listing price and inflating shipping charges, when FVF was not being applied to shipping. They were trying to get out of paying the proper FVF by taking a dollar, or whatever, from the price and adding it to the shipping price. This would make the FVF lower.
Bonanza is a great venue to sell anything that is allowed. Just as with mostly any other listing practices online, even your own website, Bonanza works for sellers who know how or care to promote themselves. For the sellers who prefer to list, do nothing, and rake in sales, there are very few sites that offer that ability. Being successful on most venues takes continuous marketing and promotions work to obtain and sustain sales.
Good luck to you,
Sandi

Pretty much how mrsvandy stated it. I am an oldtimer here and it is not what it used to be here. Unless you now buy a subscription and promote the hell out of your stuff on social media, seems you wont get much in sales unless you are selling specialized items in high demand. Im sticking it out for the time being but its not too profitable here for me with basic 9 percent advertising. Dont delete your ebay ID as you may still need it later.

I do 9% and that is still cheaper than selling on eBay. I put little effort or time into selling on this site and do no social media. But i already have 3 sales for around $80 this month. And actually i have had sales internationally shipping printed out fine.
I say in reality it’s more of what people are selling. People’s buying habits are changing fast.
My husband works in a food warehouse, stuff like Fluff,Ovaltine and Manwich use to be huge sellers. Now the stuff either isn’t there anymore or has slowed selling by probably 99%.In what he would say in a 10-12 year period.

One sale in two years says it all. Bonanza just does not advertise and no one has heard of it. Nice staff though…

What I am hearing from old timers on here is that it has changed a lot. It use to be better then it is now. Tomwayne1 has been here since 2008 so he is an old timer. And I am sure he has established himself.
I am a new comer and have been here for about 2 months. I am also international and I do believe that matters here. Bonanza does not support international shipping. I have not had on sale and that is with the 19% advertising level that I have on all my items. I also will add that I have never been on any site for this long with out a sale. Or for that matter never had no views for days at a time. So for me Bonanza does not work. I get very few views which is sad. Yet on other venues selling the same kind of items I do well. Go figure.
I asked the same question as you when I joined and decided to find out for my self and give it a try. Most sellers that answered me said it “use to be good”. Past tense. I thought it looked promising, I am not sure if that is the case anymore.
Good luck to you.
