Bedsheets tc

1. Why do bedsheets vary in TC?
2. Do they perform better after they come out of the washer & dryer by holding their richness?
3. Do the rich colors (reds) bleed in the washer?
4. Do they “breathe” during the warm climate or are they best to use during cold climate?
5. Does name brand matter or that just a marketing ordeal?
6. Is it true that the higher the TC the better the quality?

Hiya Montrose, I’m here…TC means Thread Count…Thread Count is PER Inch, usually that’s the Standard. The Closer the weave and warp are to one another the SOFTER the Fabric feels! That’s why bedsheets vary in TC, to give the consumer a choice as well as a heads-up about quality. After Washing ALL Cotton Bed sheets, there will be a shrinkage, and perhaps just a bit of shrinkage for a Cotton Blend, sometimes referred to as Percale. MOST times they come out of the DRYER softer feeling than when they went in, as the FIXATIVE on fabrics or sheets, gets washed out, number one and number two, the shrinking brings the warp and weave closer together, thus a smoother and softer feel.
I’ve never had any colors bleed EXCEPT red, which only bled so very slightly, it wasn’t noticable, and THAT was only the 1st or MAIN wash.
Regarding NAME brand…I’d say QUALITY rather than brand are more important, for example Egyptian Cotton is one the the FINEST QUALITY cottons in the world!
However sometimes name brands use the SAME DYES &/or Same Or Matching Prints for their sheets, towels, tablecovers, etc., so that ALL will match whether bought seperately or together…so that’s usually why Many a Name Brand IS More Popular than generic or store brand.
The Higher the TC the BETTER the quality IS usually the ’’’’Rule of Thumb’’’’ ~ Yes!
I Hope that answers your inquiries.

Absolutely…one only has to sleep on a higher thread count sheet set to know instantly~

The higher the thread count the closer the knit, and the softer the sheet.
180 count..ok, but somewhat rough
300 count..soft and still affordable
400 count..even better
500 count..sweet dreams
600 count or higher…so incredibly soft and luxurious you never want to get out of bed.
1200 count…Made for Sleeping Beauty!

Very cool and comfortable and they last a long time through repeated laundering and use. Quality that is worth the price you pay, at any name.

I always look at thread count when purchasing sheets. I also look for Egyptian Cotton. It’s so soft you can give up a bit on the TC if you need to.
