I just got an email to approve an order. I have never set anything to require prior approval. In the notice of an order placed that needs approval, there is [URL removed]
To allow shoppers to make purchases without your approval, update your “Buy It Now” setting in your booth’s advanced options.
And advanced options is a link. I go there, and “Allow items to be purchased immediately (”buy it now")" is checked “yes.”
There was another post here in November about order approval settings, and that post referred the original poster to their Seller settings, and to make sure “When I approve an order, send the buyer their invoice automatically (don’t prompt me to review the invoice)” is not checked. I looked, and mine is not checked.
Why did this item require approval?
Additionally, this item was 8.99 and had calculated shipping. I only noticed this as the invoice was sending, but the automatically generated invoice was generated with free shipping, so I just invoiced this buyer for a total of 8.99. Why did this happen?
Thank you.

Ah. It would be great if that could be made clear when it is sent to the seller – like maybe generate a different email entirely, because nowhere is this indicated that’s what’s going on. Especially since if these people do happen to pay (which I doubt after it requiring approval), I will have to eat the shipping cost on it, making almost $0 on the item.

It does give you the option to add shipping after you approve the invoice, but it’s a little hidden (or not very obvious). I did just loose a sale because I had to approve an order and of course the person never came back.
Check and see if you can cancel the offer.

There is also a link on the Offer when it comes in you email, that says Review this Order on Bonanza…I always click that link to see what the problem…if in the case shipping cannot be calculated, or review the offer.
I think the link should be more noticable but it is there…
If you have never dealt or have limited experience with the OBO system, you should probably always come back to My Bonanza page and check under Open Negotiations to see what is going on…

this is the info i got directly from Bonanza help about the exact same issue, i haven’t seen this anywhere in their documentation, has anyone else? it would be helpful to have known this to cut down on confusion—-
“What has usually happened in these instances is the buyer has entered Bonanza from a site that does not share the location such as a social site. So the system cannot see if the buyer is domestic or international. The system will not let the buyer checkout so the seller does not end up without the right ship charges applied to the order. Hence the system will submit as an offer so the seller can adjust the ship charges.”

Remember these tips:
- Use links to other sources to support your opinions
- Use examples where possible
- Put yourself in the inquirers shoes: what extra info would be helpful?
Should I post a comment or an answer?
You can only post one answer, so make it count. Maybe your reply is more fitting as a comment instead?
Post an answer for:
- Replies that directly and specifically answer the original question
Post a comment for:
- "Thanks," "Me too," "I agree," or "Works for me" types of replies
- When you would like the original poster to provide more details
- When you have more to add to someone else's question or answer
