I use Homebase for my data, but cannot upload to Bonanza site. I made a CSV file but get this error message
The file uploaded is not a valid CSV file due to “Missing or stray quote in line 9” I get the same message if I try a TAB file.
Bonanza support sends me to the Homebase programmers and of course Homebase says they can’t know what Bonanza upload issues are. Anyone else use this software?
Thanks for any help!
Excerpt from a fairly popular SAAS [URL removed]
“Missing or stray quote on line
This can be the result of Excel or another spreadsheet program adding curly quotes (smart quotes). These quotes need to be replaced with straight quotes. To resolve this issue, open the file in a text editor, and do a search and replace to change “ “ into quotes that look like [URL removed] " “.
Another possible cause is an extra quote that has been added to the file. Open the file in a text editor and find the line that has error. Once you’re there check the fields for stray quotes and remove them.”

Remember these tips:
- Use links to other sources to support your opinions
- Use examples where possible
- Put yourself in the inquirers shoes: what extra info would be helpful?
Should I post a comment or an answer?
You can only post one answer, so make it count. Maybe your reply is more fitting as a comment instead?
Post an answer for:
- Replies that directly and specifically answer the original question
Post a comment for:
- "Thanks," "Me too," "I agree," or "Works for me" types of replies
- When you would like the original poster to provide more details
- When you have more to add to someone else's question or answer
