Can anyone help with old comic book prices? where to find them?

I need to research a large lot of comics I recently purchased at an estate sale. Lots of goodies like Trigger, Mickey, Donald, Tarzan and Westerns. Mostly silver and golden age but there seems to be so much out there. I have no idea where to start but I’m sure that someone is out there that would treasure these.

Thank you for your help

Hi,
I’m in the same boat as you are.. I also purchased a boxlot of vintage comic books all in wrappers and in mint condition.. I was googling trying to find a place for you to check out prices and found this place.. [URL removed] .. Looks Great !! I signed up and once I learn the ropes there I will probably start selling there.. I checked out a Superman 1993 book I have and its worth about 8 bucks… Hope this helps you…

Unless you were lucky enough to stumble onto someones treasures, most will not be worth much. I notice that locally the SA sells nice comics in plastic sleeves for $2 each. I went through a bunch of them at first, to see if there were any goodies, and there weren’t. It’s only th very rare find thatis worth very much. I decided there wasn’t enough there to bother with, since most are asking $.99 on the bay. Our local SA has wised up and is selling stuff at about the same price that you find on eBay.

Ive been in the same boat, (although not purchased), i pulled mine out from yeeeeeeeears ago. I looked up quite a few of my old ones, and was somewhat excited when checking the prices, (most were $20-50, in 8 grade, which id say most of mine are conservatively graded), then i did Ebay searches, and found most of them in the same grade, sitting in Stores, not selling, at less than 10% of the book price. Unless you are lucky to find something TRULY spectacular, this may not be the time to sell :S

(now im thinking about buying…. lol)

Hello Two Friends, When checking price guides be very critical of the condition of your comic books. Condition brings wide variation in values. Most even good desirable comics in fair to even good condition are worth little.

These are the two online sources that I use

[URL removed] – Comic Connect will appraise for free and can be telephoned or emailed.

[URL removed] – This website will help in deciding what ‘grade’ or condition terms are used to identify comic books.

I have been involved in comics in one way or the other for over 20 years- and these are the internet sites I trust the most. Local comic book stores may be interested in purchasing, but they will not give you as much as an individual because they will want to make money on the investment as well.

hi george

i would recommend the overstreet price guide their prices are the most accurate.

the price guides will tell you one thing? but they are really only that- a guide. you’ll likely find that the selling prices of books are far far less than the guide would say.
