I have this 4 piece set of pottery somethings. There are no maker’s marks. There is a c in a circle on one but that is just a copyright mark. I think they’re from the 70s or 80s and I feel I should recognize them. I’m pretty sure they’re handpainted.
Does anybody recognize these and what they were used for. I came up with a chalice type wine glass. Dessert bowls, finger bowls or ??? who knows.
They are 3 1/2" tall and the mouth width if 4 3/4".
Any help or direction is appreciated.

These are rice bowls. Whoever said they have a large one just like them, that is the main server bowl. Well at least the maroon one I mean.
The fruit cups look like old sorbet or icee (shaved ice) servers, but gee whiz, why limit yourself! LOL
I say you put whatever fits!

Whoops! Forgot to add a picture – there is a listing in my booth for these where there are additional pictures.

Thanks Germaine – that’s a good identifier!
Thank you for all the terrific guesses.
I don’t think there is a best answer for these because I think they really do have a variety of uses.
Thanks everyone!
Thanks for the suggestion CCmom. They have the same/similar shape but these are a lot bigger. I think one would take a whole saki bottle. I think they each hold about 1 cup. I always think of saki cups as being quite small – but I might be wrong.
Maybe they’re the Japanese idea equivalent of what they think American’s drink. Supersized! LOL I certainly do appreciate the time you’ve taken to show me what they may very well be! Thanks.

Mid-Century Modern Dessert Bowls would be my guess by pics and measurements.

They remind me of ice cream sundae bowls.
Now that I see them upside down could be used for boiled eggs holder.
These are just guesses as maybe they had many uses if you wanted.

Looks like sake/saki cups too me.
Japanese SAKAZUKI Sake Cup Ceremonial cups are up to 5 inches in diameter…2 to 9 ouncesas you can see in the bottom picture..they can have a larger diameter…different sizes for different ocassions or styles
these are probably for something else but they are in the style…
..the cups are a bit Americanized for Japanese cups, though..
maybe osoba or some other appetizer cup…or maybe
Footed/Pedestal Fruit bowl

Lynn are they deep enough to be egg cups? Otherwise maybe a personal nut cup. Nut cups were popular for bridge groups. That would be my best guess.
