Like most of us that sell here I know a little bit about a lot of things BUT one thing I know VERY VERY little about is Barbie dolls and clothing.
Over the past few years I have picked up a LOT of approx 25-35 individual Barbie dolls and a whole box of around 100+ clothing items, etc and was wondering if there was anyone thats at least semi knowledgable out there that would be willing to help me with pricing and kinda mentor me on how best to list these and if there are any special things to look out for ,etc.??
Im truly lost with these things being a guy and all and..well I just need some good advice, etc.
If youd be willing to take a looksee at what ive got and maybe give me some advice I’d sure appreciate it.
Thanks In advance, Blu :)

There are a few knowledgeable Barbie doll sellers on bonanza, such as Nancy, as mentioned.
There are also many good sites on the Internet that offer lots of information, too. I’ve used these for references when I’ve sold vintage Barbie items in the past. These sites reference vintage Barbies, up to about 1972. If the dolls you have are from the 1980s and newer, these sites probably won’t help you much.

See if your local library has the book “Barbie Rarities – The Dolls The Costumes Miscellany” by Florence Theriault. It has great photos of the dolls, the markings on them, as well as the clothing items and what bits and pieces go with what. Its a pretty good resource for when you have a large amount of items to go through.

There are SO many Barbies out there. Millions, in fact. Most of the naked Barbies in the last 10 years or so sell at most thrift shops for 1-2 dollars. Unless they are MIB, Barbies don’t have much value until you get back to some produced in the 1970s and earlier. Even then they should have original clothes and if they are MIB, all the better. The 1950-early 1960s ones are the ones with value. Even if parts of them are bad, people look for replacement body parts and good heads with nice hair & paint. For identifying those you should have access to a good Barbie ID book. Also do research online, there are some vintage Barbie sites that can give you tips and help you spot fakes. If you ID an oldie, check on major selling sites to see what prices they have brought recently. People can ask anything they want to, it’s what people are willing to buy for that counts.

Hey Blu,
There are lots of web sites out there and older vintage clothes and dolls are worth looking into.
