This seems to be a small marble paperweight app. 2 inches by 1.2 inches or so. I am wondering what it says? Is this Japanese language? Here is a picture ( I’m not sure which side is right side up!):

Also, this is an “ink block” and not a paperweight.
Thought that will help further your description too.
Happy Holidays!

UPDATE [URL removed] Hi Emily, I was waiting for a reply from my friends in Beijing, and this is what they confirm to [URL removed]
(from Taija) Hi Monty, it is an Ink Block, very common and can be purchased at the markets for just under $3 USdollars.
First of all, it is up side down. It means CELEBRATION or HAPPY EVENT which means “life, long life, celebration for a long life” in our way of expression.

Love, Money, or ‘long live’ … although I do not think the latter.
And it’s Chinese … one can get it for pennies in China

Thank you so much! I don’t think there is any way this is a game piece…it is almost .5 inches thick. I have never heard of an ink block, so thank you for that idea! It is a cute piece and now that I’m thinking it says something useful, I like it even better! :)

WOW! Thank you so much for asking your Chinese friends, Monty! How fun it is to hear directly from them. Please tell them thank you from me!
And see, Johanna? You were right, too! Thanks so much for helping me with the answer to this one, Everyone!

That would be Mahjongg, Adelberta, but I do not think so.

Would this be a part of a game? The game where you match the tiles.
