Lexity Live is Live, and other Updates

As many of you have keenly observed in the forums over the last few weeks, we have slowly been rolling out Lexity Live to our merchants, allowing them to watch buyers browse their store and buy items in real time.  We're excited to announce that, as of today, all Bonanza stores now have built-in access to Lexity Live.

Lexity Live lets you see what pages your buyers are viewing, which products they are putting in the shopping cart, and how they move from page to page. Once you're signed up, you can check out your store's Lexity Live dashboard any time to see what your customers are doing.  You can signup now by visiting your "My Bonanza" page and clicking the link to "View buyers in real time."

Lexity Features

  • Monitor what pages every visitor currently in your store is viewing, up to the second; drill down to unique visitors with one click
  • Find out which of your visitors are in the shopping cart, and where your visitors drop off
  • View detailed, real-time path reportsfor unique visitors with real-time visitor tracking
  • See the effects of your marketing campaigns immediately withreal-time website traffic statistics
  • Understand your business better with detailed statistics including keywords, referral links, search engines, geolocation, and time on site

Why Lexity?

Simply put, we think they've built a great product, and this ties into our larger initiative to work with partners who we feel can benefit the Bonanza community.  In addition to Lexity Live, Lexity is also known for their well-crafted tools that help make advertising easy for sellers -- we're excited to see their progress as they incorporate the power of Lexity advertising into their Bonanza integration.  I suspect they will have many more great tools to offer our sellers in the future.  Speaking of which...

What have Bonanza programmers been up to?

Our major initiative over the last month has been working to ensure that our sellers' items remain prominently featured in Google Shopping as the transition to paid traffic takes place.  We have found the folks at Google to be extremely keen on helping us make the transition seamlessly, and the fruit of their effort is that we have now transitioned all our traffic from Google Product Search to Google Shopping, with no noticeable dropoff in incoming traffic (and many cases where our sellers' items are now featured in the sexy Google Shopping window from organic search).

That said, our integration with Google Shopping has only begun.  Expect more exciting updates on our integration efforts in the weeks to come.  No summer break for these programmers.

So that’s what you guys have been doing over there! Looks awesome.

gearseller2 says: 08/14/12 at 14:27:01

Thanks for continuing to “fight the good fight” on our behalf :-)

MoldavitePlus says: 08/14/12 at 14:34:32

Thanks, keep up the good work!

Resale_Fun says: 08/14/12 at 14:36:07

I sold an item and Lexity showed this—but the ISP address showed GA—while the buyer was actually in KS—why would that happen?

BonanzaJeremy says in response: 08/14/12 at 14:40:16

I imagine it might depend on where their Internet service provider is located. Bill? Jordan?

bonanzamark says in response: 08/14/12 at 14:44:01

I agree with Jeremy, it is most likely your ISP.

BookbinEtc says: 08/14/12 at 15:02:31

What does that mean, about our products in GS? I thought that you had to pay to be in there, and we no longer would be. What’s happening in that regard?

bonanzamark says in response: 08/14/12 at 15:20:05

You do have to pay to be in there BookbinEtc. Bonanza is paying to be in there. We have stepped up our advertising on our side to make up for any traffic lost to the 100% paid model.

BookbinEtc says: 08/14/12 at 15:27:20

Cool, thanks for the response. I guess I missed that Bonz would be paying to be in.

pacificarising says: 08/14/12 at 15:59:04

Lexity sounds and looks good but just a couple questions, if I may?

First, is there any conflict with certain browsers while using Lexity that would require us to disable private browsing, blockers or security of any kind? And secondly, with all the Lexity features that are going to be rolled out over time how long are these services likely to remain at no cost to Bonanza Sellers?

PS) Thanks for your efforts on our behalf on Google. :-)

bonanzamark says in response: 08/14/12 at 16:22:41

Per Michelle @Lexity who is active on a thread at Bonanza;

“Browsers: Lexity Live does best with the newest and most updated browsers like Firefox, Chrome, IE7 and higher, and Safari.”

Here is a link to that thread:

“You do have to pay to be in there BookbinEtc. Bonanza is paying to be in there”.

Well **** Howdy!!!!!
I take back everything negative I’ve ever said about Bonanza. LOL

Thank You all!!!

kenoticket says: 08/14/12 at 16:04:34

OH NO, I still have a blank Lexity screen. Mark, kick the machine for me so I can play.

bonanzamark says in response: 08/14/12 at 16:24:36

I went into your account and it worked for me. You’re not trying to access Bonanza on IE5 are you?

kenoticket says: 08/14/12 at 16:35:46

No, I’m on IE8.

I opened a couple of screens, made sure I was viewing one of my items, then went to the Lexity page, but still blank. Down in the bottom left corner of my screen, it does say “error on page”.

Is there a way to un-join, and then re-join to see if it starts working?

ilovecrystals says: 08/14/12 at 16:35:54

Mine isn’t working either Mark…Just a blank screen. It says, “Loading data” and at the bottom of my screen it says it’s done and the data just never appears. {{{Help}}}

bonanzamark says in response: 08/14/12 at 16:48:38

Yours works for me too. I am using Google Chrome. Sounds like it may be browser related/JavaScript related/privacy settings related. Here is Lexities contact: [email protected]

momspennies says: 08/14/12 at 17:55:25

OK, My head is still spinning from the roller coaster ride I was on earlier… Let me make sure I got this right:
Bonanza is paying to be in there. We have stepped up our advertising on our side to make up for any traffic lost to the 100% paid model. Meaning, it is free for us, no matter what level of memberhship we have, and for how long? I want to join the celebration but want to make sure I am understanding this right!

And why are some of us getting letters from Lexity saying it isn’t free?

pacificarising says: 08/14/12 at 18:21:37

Thanks Mark, I do appreciate it. But I never post here without reading the forum threads first. So now, having read your response to ilovecrystals, the answer to my first question would be a yes?

Since Momspennies reiterated my second question I’ll wait and see your response to her.

nightrunway says: 08/14/12 at 18:57:41

It looks to me like you are paying for adwords , with different booth items featured, from here on Bonanza. Not the google shopping. For the money spent, looks like a smart move for your advertising $

sofyblu2 says: 08/14/12 at 19:49:02

So are we going to still be what was called google products shopping?

Resale_Fun says: 08/14/12 at 20:11:52

I’m lost(nothing unusual)..what exactly is Bonanza paying for? What sort of advertising are you going to do with Google? How do we find it?

kenoticket says: 08/14/12 at 21:38:21

Mark, could you clarify what you said about “Bonanza is paying to be in there”?

Will all of our items be included (as long as attributes, etc are correct), or are you referring to the adwords program.

Thanks,
keno

(BTW, I did write to Lexity support. Got an acknowledgement that said they’ll respond in 1-2 days).

bharding says: 08/15/12 at 00:00:21

Hey keno, sofy, momspennies, et. al:

Yes. We are currently paying for all Bonanza items to be featured in Google Shopping. In the process of doing so, we are also building systems that will soon help our sellers customize the level of advertising they want to receive for their items.

We take our responsibility to stay ahead of the curve seriously, which is why we want Bonanza to be the first marketplace to be fully integrated with the new GS landscape.

UknowUneedAnother says: 08/15/12 at 01:32:48

I’m tech-feeble and need stuff defined in micro baby steps.

Does the above mean that I have to join Lexity in order to have my stuff make it into Google shopping?

AND, … does the no cost being brought up mean that Bonz is footing the Lexity costs?

bonanzamark says in response: 08/15/12 at 07:33:40

In short, you do not need to join Lexity to have your items make it into Google Shopping. There are no charges associated with using Lexity on Bonanza in its current capacity. As Bill mentions in the blog, “Lexity is also known for their well-crafted tools that help make advertising easy for sellers — we’re excited to see their progress as they incorporate the power of Lexity advertising into their Bonanza integration. I suspect they will have many more great tools to offer our sellers in the future.”

ladivafashion says: 08/15/12 at 03:16:10

Thank you for making this a free feature! Now I would love to see some enterprising partners work on shopping apps for us (if they haven’t already!)

CritterCreekRanch says: 08/15/12 at 04:34:15

per this statement Bill..“Yes. We are currently paying for all Bonanza items to be featured in Google Shopping. In the process of doing so, we are also building systems that will soon help our sellers customize the level of advertising they want to receive for their items.”

I don’t want to sound negative, but does this mean we will have to pay Bonanza to play..I really do not like all this secret stuff all the hinting and wondering, the lexity app is ok, but I do not see it helping me as far as sales goes, what I do see is alot of people visiting SOLD items in the past 2 years, which I would soon not see, But your answer to momspennies is about as clear as mud, I would think you would be cheerleading over the advertising part by letting us know exactly what is going on because of everyone hounding yall about doing something with advertising, so with that said, I feel a cost coming up with the pay to play, I do not want to read into what you said but without someone explaining what is going on then you will have people like me throwing out things like I just stated

bonanzamark says in response: 08/15/12 at 08:01:32

I would encourage you to assume the best. We have always been pretty good about giving our sellers choices. We are going to do everything in our power to help you make as many sales as you possibly can and make Bonanza the most attractive website for you to do that on.

annimae says: 08/15/12 at 05:06:52

My thoughts exactly Cindy!! I’m waiting for the other hammer to fall as to just HOW much our cost is going to go up! And also….will this change the new algorhythm that Google started several months ago? If not, my ship is still sinking!

BARNTIQUES859 says: 08/15/12 at 05:43:50

well I’ll be dipped. and keeping my fingers crossed

AbbysAttic says: 08/15/12 at 05:51:37

Here’s the really frustrating part of the whole google thing. I just searched for an item I have in my booth that I know is not commonly found. My search string was “Haviland Ganga Cranberry Bowl.” I’m second on the list, and 3rd and 4th I think, in google organic and shopping. Who’s #1, Replacements. The frustrating thing is when you click on their link, you come to their main page for the pattern and have to search for the cranberry bowl. Guess what? They don’t have one. It’s on their list of “other pieces in this pattern that we don’t have.” Obviously Replacements is paying a lot more than we are.

Let me add, this is not meant to be a complaint against Bonz. My apologies if it sounds like one. It more of an observation about google.

bonanzamark says in response: 08/15/12 at 08:02:35

I bet Google dislikes having irrelevant results too and I bet they have systems in place to spot such things and given time I bet that is going to improve.

HavensRainbow says: 08/15/12 at 07:38:04

Thank you Bill for blogging on this. You just do not know how good it feels to be talking about this in the wide open. I like the idea of being in GPS with all the big boys.

My questions are the same as CritterCreek. Will we (sellers) be playing a part money wise in keeping us in GPS as we were before GPS decided to go to the pay to play model? It does not sound like it (wanting to make sure), but I think because different parts of Lexity will be rolling out that it is getting confused with the GPS thing.

Thanks!!!!!

jsgeare says: 08/15/12 at 07:47:45

Mark and/or Bill: Can you be more specific (without being TOO specific) about how our items appear in the pay-to-play model, and what the costs are. Are we using the “bid” method and if so how does this impact how often any Bonz item appears in Shopping?

Also, will there be different or other attributes we should include in listing our items? And what about the previous rules for GPS as to content of title and description?

Inquiring minds are desperate to know . . .

bonanzamark says in response: 08/15/12 at 08:04:46

I am not too sure about the details but in regards to Google, we would highly recommend that you:

Make sure that your listings have no missing Unique Product Identifiers (UPC or Brand/MPN Numbers)
Make sure that you have no capitalized titles (ALL CAPS in titles are against Google’s publishing policies)
Make sure that your title keywords are within the first 70 characters of your title (Google will truncate titles beyond 70 characters)
Make sure that your titles and descriptions are high quality. Relevant titles and quality descriptions are key.

jdsgiftshack says: 08/15/12 at 07:56:54

I guess I don’t understand what makes this so different then if you just set your items up on google analytics (WHICH IS FREE)..if you set that up on your booth you can see the majority of the same things. How is knowing what someone put in their cart but didn’t buy going to help me?

And I get afraid that as soon as I try the FREE version of this that all of the sudden Im going to see a billing for it down the road because I missed something that told me if I didnt cancel it I would be charged.

I too am not trying to sound negative I just like ALL the details about something not just tid bits at a time…makes me leary.

kenoticket says: 08/15/12 at 08:28:21

I know that in the last few weeks, on several of our forum threads people have said that since we were not going to be included in google shopping (said before this announcement) that they were going to list items on more than one site, thus causing ‘duplicate listings’.

I assume that since we will be in GS, that the ‘no duplicates’ rule is back in effect?

bonanzamark says in response: 08/15/12 at 08:58:18

Not too sure about this one. Because it is a paid model one would think that the duplicate policy may not be in effect. However content is king and Google has made that very clear. Paying the highest price does not guarantee placement. Quality content and relevancy matter.

jsgeare says: 08/15/12 at 08:33:12

Thanks, Mark – and the question about how this works – what Bonz pays for? For listings? For clicks? Etc. Without being specific as to the numbers, did Bonz get a kind of “wholesale deal” compared to what an individual seller might get?

froggieb says: 08/15/12 at 08:45:46

I am pleasantly surprised! Now I will just wait and see how this all plays out because I know we will get updates as things progress! Thank you Bill!

RayvensRarities says: 08/15/12 at 08:57:21

Hmmmm I’m still in the “wait and see mode” till Oct rolls around

RedbirdRidge says: 08/15/12 at 08:57:33

Thank you so much! I think this should have been sent out by email. Reading the forums on these topics has gotten to be so very depressing. I feel silly now for believing all summer that all was hopeless. Back to listing & hoping for the best!

Indizona says: 08/15/12 at 11:12:21

Well, I just signed up for the Lexity thing and it counted me visiting my own booth. Other than that, it looks like it’s going to be a cool gadget to use.

That said, I’m glad to find out that Bonanza is paying to be in the Google Shopping so that we don’t fall off the planet… or whatever it is we would fall off of, LOL.

calicoseas says: 08/15/12 at 15:20:51

Oh my gosh, you guys are still so creative! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Like some others, I’d begun to have that sinking feeling that I’d be “lost in space” (cyberspace), after looking forward to more sales starting in the fall. And I have a GARAGE FULL of Wonderful stuff that sells well fall, winter, and spring.

Just gotta add, my sales have increased here each year, and I just got my 4-year badge. SOOOO . . . I am SOOOO HAPPY! YEA for the GOOD GUYS!

EclecticStuff says: 08/15/12 at 17:10:13

Glad I stopped to read this – I had given up on the future of Bonanza for me after the demise of Google Shopping for us. What an attitude lift!! Thank you for all your efforts!

Not being too swift on the meaning of Google terms, I am gathering that we will still show up in Google Organics? [because you talked of a transition of “all” Bonanza traffic to Google Shopping. BTW, wasn’t it called Google Shopping before all these changes – anyway??

…haven’t looked at Lexity yet. sounds interesting.

fredimous says: 08/16/12 at 00:25:15

Great post. Lexity has so far helped me figure out where my customers are coming from, what times, and if my advertising techniques are working. The fact that it’s free makes it much better, of course!

Great news about Google Shopping and Bonanza’s move with that. That was one of my concerns and at least I know that you guys are being proactive with it.

Very pleased with the moves you guys have been making for us lately and I really do feel like this helps the community as a whole. Thank you!

UknowUneedAnother says: 08/16/12 at 04:55:33

Thanks, Mark!

CritterCreekRanch says: 08/16/12 at 06:30:49

After reading everything I could find concerning all this I know that support will do what they can to keep us in the loop and continue to keep our items visable, for that I am thankful and appreciate the hard work

DiscountDesigner says: 08/16/12 at 07:26:50

When i am in my booth,it shows my booth name, if someone else comes into my booth, there is no booth name (if on bonz) and it only shows the item they are looking at. Also, my computer is running very very slow and freezes up with it open. and I have FF., older computer tho. So doens’t do me much good at all.

memaw7 says: 08/16/12 at 09:25:28

when I click on mine. it’s blank and says “error on page” at the bottom??

somanymugs777 says: 08/16/12 at 09:44:32

Can’t be viewed on mine either because of IE8?? So guess I lose out on this one!

BotanicaBookshop says: 08/16/12 at 09:52:03

Just FYI— I use IE9 on Dell laptop and have no problem accessing Lexity.

Perhaps, another issue is involved for those who can’t.

HavensRainbow says: 08/16/12 at 13:17:24

For the first time in a little while, I am feeling more optimistic. Thanks!!!!

momspennies says: 08/16/12 at 18:05:11

Bringing this over from the other thread so Management see’s it…
________________________________________________________
You know, I had another thought…

We are fighting so hard to stay visible in GPS, yet, at the same time, they have still not fixed the way our shipping shows up on GPS.

My best selling items (or rather, what WAS my best selling items) show shipping at twice the actual amount to ship because it had to be set for HAWAII. Since this happened, all sales have stopped for these products. I think someone needs to force them to correct that before they can charge anyone to be listed on their Paid Site. That is the most frustrating part. (They, them, their- referring to Google.)

What Bonanza, or any merchant who is paying for this service, is getting is inaccurate and misleading content being shown to the public. It’s like paying someone to advertise your business and they post the wrong phone number!

bloomermo says: 08/17/12 at 05:04:39

Lexity still isn’t loading for me in either booth – shows “Retrieving Dats” message. Using IE8, tried on 3 different computers.

HavensRainbow says: 08/17/12 at 07:18:09

On what MomsPennies posted, it would be a blessing to have our shipping show up correctly on GPS. I would think that GPS would want to be more customer service friendly with this now that Bonanza is paying for their service (hoping)….I wonder if there is anyway that GPS could be prompted to move forward in adding this to their list of customer service.

FrogAndBearCreations says: 08/17/12 at 08:48:05

I have a question on “sold” items being shown – why pay to include them?
There is no benefit to someone coming in on an item that is not available

HavensRainbow says: 08/18/12 at 14:54:48

Bill or Mark, there’s not anything that Bonanza can do to get the calculated shipping to show up right in GPS? Thanks!!!!

CoinsYouWant says: 08/18/12 at 20:50:49

Bill & Mark Thank you for all you do to keep up with the changing paces of life, and keeping Bonanza as simple as possible…. I myself just can’t keep up with all these “other sights” other than FB and Twitter… too many log ins and passwords to remember. I’ve been here since your beginning days, and struggle through these changes. I was just recently told that having a Bonanza subscription would probably boost my sales, but now all these new changes… am I still able to purchase a Bonanza Subcription?
