The software is not illegal because you should have downloaded that off of Microsofts actual website. Invalid key seems to be your real concern. There are different causes to an invalid key. The problem could range from BIOs settings, different variants of windows, or even your antivirus blocking windows at the firewall preventing windows from installing crucial services. Its happened before.... Feel free to message me, this is the first I had heard about your concern.
