Georgiy Ivanovich Firtich was born in 1938 in Pskov, where he studied in music school. In 1957 he graduated from the Music College at (Leningrad) St. Peters burg Conservatoire (composition classâ??B. Mozhzhevelov), and in 1962â?? from St. Petersburg Conservatoire, where he studied under Yu. Balkashin and B. Arapov. In 1962 Firtich became the member of Composers' Union. Though Firtich works almost as the serious music composer, he also writes for theatre, cinema and TV. Firtich may be called our Age symbol. His creativity, embodies the whole epoch, existing in it, vividly changing together with it and influenced by internal irrational psychological forces, which are meanwhile controled by the highest Universal ones.
