Item description
Box cover is a little shelf worn around the corners. Pre-viewed for quality and played fine except I had to tweak the tracking for static sound at about 1 hour in. A couple of scenes bounced a little, but this is in the sourceprint which is remarkably clean given the age (1939).
Out Of Print (OOP) and only available on pricey blu-ray.
A brilliant adaptation of the Clare Boothe Luce stage comedy about a group of WOMEN who destroy their best friends' reputations at various high-society social gatherings.
Crawford's portrayal of the nasty husband-stealer is classic.
The fashion show is not to be missed as this sequence is in Technicolor.
I found the late 30s fashions fascinating, the tennis outfits are identical to what they wear now (mini-skirt), but the dresses went to the floor. Everything about this film is female, not only the cast but the animals as well. Even the photographs and art objects are all women! Hilarious bitchiness all around.
