Item description
Off to Pueblo is a signed and numbered limited edition print by Loren Fry. It depicts a frontier woman kissing her husband goodbye as he heads off on horseback. Their little girl watches while holding her rag doll.
The image size is 17" x 25". Overall size is 21" x 29". It was published by Somerset House in 1982 in an edition size of 1,000.
About the Artist:
Loren Fry paints the West with a sensitivity born of first-hand experience. His perspective is that of a cowboy and is enhanced by his many years of working as a "hand" on ranches in the Rocky Mountains. Working in acrylics, Fry deftly combines realistic and impressionistic elements to convey a feeling of his subject, as well as a visual image.
Born in Chicago in 1924, Fry resides in Michigan, although he makes regular pilgrimages to the Fear Ranch in Wyoming, where the ideas for most of his paintings originate. Fry's works reveal the artist's extensive familiarity with the cowboy's life. The cowboys don't merely sit on their mounts; horse and rider form almost a single creature, and there's a certain way one bends over on a horse and a unique look to the hang of the clothes that only a cowboy would know, but which anyone can appreciate.
Loren Fry is a dedicated artist striving to capture ranch life before it becomes another western legend. And, as his rancher admirers declare, "No one can tell our story as well as Loren Fry."
