The author's first novel and first to feature Virgil Tibbs. This novel won many awards and made into a successful classic film. Both the book and dust jacket are near fine condition. Small ink symbols upper left corner rear free endpaper. Inscribed to myself and Kate Patch in 1988. With John Ball's personal chop and Chinese writing in addition to the inscription. I was friends with the author and personally presented this book to him for the inscription at his home. I?ll write a letter attesting the signature and inscription authenticity. Inscribed first edition copies of this title are notoriously difficult to encounter. Even John Ball had difficulty finding a first edition copy of In The Heat Of The Night. Logically one might make the assumption that a Taiwan first edition of this famous title inscribed by John Ball might be even more elusive than notorious. This is the only one I have seen that was signed. It was also forbidden to be sold in the United States.
