Satin Flower: Quilted Art Wall Hanging and 50 similar items

The challenge for Satin Flower was to create a work based on a single fabric; I chose the gray satin which I have in unexplained quantity in my stash. I used several layers of high loft batting and created the leaf shapes and stem with thread painting. The flower is a number of long strips of the satin gathered into ruffles and coiled onto the background. A few touches of fabric paint helps bring out the shapes, and whole piece is edged with more satin, bound onto foam core in a shape that is as you see it; it did not want to conform to your standard rectangle! This is an elegant piece that will fit well into your office or home. Size: 19" X 20" My artwork is mounted on foam core, which creates a light-weight but rigid piece with a wire for hanging and a felt backing. It is treated with a sun-block spray, although prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may eventually cause fading.
