This listing is for a signed impressionist style painting with a European feel. The style, landscape and buildings with bridge piers in the distance have a distinct "south of France" look. This is framed, matted and signed. The paint has an opaque, mat finish, not glossy, so I don't think it is oil.. It has the appearance and finish of a chalk pastel but it may be acrylic or gouache. It is painted on a canvas board. Upon a closer look at the canvas, you can see the little dots of the canvas, they are not uniform like today's canvas boards,, they have the look of a wrapped gauze that has been painted on.. One can see that the entire canvas board was first painted in a rust brown, which peeks through the mesh of the canvas background. The size of the framed piece is 15 x 12 inches. The picture opening is 9 x 6.25" CONDITION: The painting surface is nice. The mat has smudges on the right side and an indent on the bottom side. The inner gold trim is nice with just a little bit of wear. The frame is professionally done, it is tight on each corner; it has a few small dents. Quick ship non-smoking thanks!
