Formed in 2006, The HIGH 48s is a band of songwriters from the South, raised in the Upper Midwest, whose music combines the soulful sound of classic bluegrass with a modern attitude, all original songs. Their name comes from railroad slang for boxcars originally used to transport troops on the front lines in WWI that carries 40 soldiers or 8 horses, later used in the US on fast-moving "hotshot" freight trains by train-hoppers looking for work during the Great Depression.
