The story takes the reader from Liverpool to the seedy red-light districts of Hamburg and back again to Liverpool, to the Cavern Club where they were discovered by Brian Epstein. The result of that meeting created rock and roll history that is still unmatched to this day. Within the 97 pages of this fantastic book, you'll find picture after picture of the "Fab 4", both in color and in black-and-white. There are photos of concerts, recording sessions, social events, personal lives, and some just plain fooling around and having fun. There is a discography of all their music during those first 20 years as well as concert dates and venues. Combine those with lots of pictures of their fans and you've got a Beatles collection that covers it all. Helen Spence, the author, was born in London and lived in Kent for most of her life, and traveled extensively throughout the world. She was educated at Tonbridge Grammar School and at the University of Bristol where she graduated in Ancient Mediterranean Studies. During her life she wrote a number of books on travel before taking on the challenge of completing this book, "The Beatles", which reflected her lifelong interest in music, both popular and classical.
