This is the Official 1st Day of Issue for CELEBRATIONS, Cleveland, Ohio and Santa Monica, California for Rock 'n' Roll BILL HALEY Rhythm Blues CLYDE MCPHATTER stamped June 16 1993.
One of the 1st American rock and roll musicians, Bill Haley was considered 1st to popularize this form of music in the early 50's with his group, Bill Haley His Comets and their hit song, "Rock Around The Clock."
Clyde Lensley McPhatter was an American R B singer, perhaps the most imitated R B singer of the 50's and 60's, making him a key figure in the shaping of DOO-WOP and R B. McPhatter was the founder of THE DRIFTERS before going solo, leaving a legacy for over 22 years of recording history.
