# Offered here is an original 1853 First Edition of Bishop John Kaye?s notable patristic study on the Council of Nicaea, published posthumously in July 1853 shortly after the author's death. Ex-Library / Provenance: Deaccessioned from the prestigious Providence Athenaum (Rhode Island). Features a crisp red stamp on the front preliminary leaf reading "WITHDRAWN from the collection of the PROVIDENCE ATHENÆUM". Pencil call numbers (270.2 / K18) present on the flyleaf and interior page. Binding Exterior: Original blue-grey cloth spine over brown cloth boards with stamped spine lettering. Moderate shelf wear, surface fading/discoloration to the boards, and rubbing to the spine text. Old library call number abraded at the base of the spine. Text Block: Pages show light uniform age-toning, but remain sound, square, and tight in the binding. Includes the introductory Advertisement leaf dated July 1853 by Rev. J. A. Jeremie.
