Jules Verne DROPPED FROM THE CLOUDS New York: Scribners, Armstrong Company, 1875. Original publisher?s decorated rust brown cloth stamped in gold and black on the spine and front board. Black and white line illustrations. A very good copy, above what is usually encountered in an 1875 Jules Verne book. This copy has minimal soiling to covers, slight spine end wear, slight corner and edge wear. Internal yellow endpapers are uncracked with a bit of tenderness showing at the bottom lower edge area of the front endpapers. A faint name from the period has been written in the front free endpaper. Internal pages are solid with only light occasional minimal soiling. The book sits squarely and presents itself very well on the shelf. The last photograph shows the book in its clear Mylar cover that is provided to protect this copy from handling. ???-Important information???- There were three separate books that comprised THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND by Jules Verne. The titles are: ?Dropped from the Clouds,? ?Abandoned,? and ?The Secret of the Island.? The book offered here is the first book of this trilogy. This title ?Dropped From The Clouds? was also previously printed by Scribners in a totally different thin, tall format. A later decision resulted in the issuance of all the ?Mysterious Island? books to be issued in the same format. Later all three titles were combined into one book by the publisher resulting in what is commonly known as ?The Mysterious Island? by Jules Verne.
