Nikon Cameras 50th Anniversary 1948 - 1998 neck strap, factory sealed. This is the rare factory-sealed commemorative neck strap that was supplied exclusively with the limited-edition Nikon F5 50th Anniversary Model released in 1998. Nikon produced only 3,000 of these special F5 bodies worldwide (approximately 2,000 for the Japanese market and 1,000 for the rest of the world). Each camera came with this unique strap marked ?Nikon Cameras 50th Anniversary 1948?1998.? The strap was never offered for individual sale through normal retail channels, making sealed, unused examples especially scarce and collectible. The strap width is 1.75". However, I cannot determine the length without opening the factory sealed strap. The strap appears to be a black woven nylon or polyester body with leather-style ends. Exact length unknown as the package remains unopened, but consistent with standard Nikon neck straps of the period (approximately 120 cm / 47 inches fully extended). The gold stripes are woven into the strap, while the white lettering/dates and gold "50th" appears to be rubber letters molded to appear embroidered. The black fuzz at the bottom of the gold "5" is a stray thread that has stubbornly lodged itself between the strap and packaging. It is not damage to the rubber number.
