Vintage Fragata Espanola 1780 Wooden Model and 50 similar items

This decorative novelty model was produced during the 1970s. While the nameplate references a historical military warship from 1780 specifically one that fought in the Battle of Cape St. Vincent during the American Revolutionary War?the model itself is not an antique or a museum-grade scale kit. Instead, it was mass-produced as home mantel decor and nautical souvenir giftware, frequently manufactured in Taiwan during the 1970s home decor boom. The piece is a stylized, fully assembled display model constructed primarily from stained wood and composite materials. It replicates a classic 18th-century three-masted tall ship rigged with numerous tan fabric sails that are pre-shaped and stiffened to simulate being filled by the wind. The hull is painted matte black with a striking cream-colored accent stripe along the gunwale line, detailed with miniature cannons and gold-colored filigree accents on the stern.
