They all loved it and it was way more challenging for them than I thought it would be...they're all pretty smart and some had even done actual escape rooms before. There is a link to a google doc in the description in Etsy - I recommend checking it out to see how you can customize your box. We went with a Harry Potter theme for her party, used the letter the seller provided in that link, and hid all of the book page clues in the Harry Potter books. He and his four friends had an absolute blast. I added a few props to go along with our science lab theme; plastic eye goggles, detective agent badges with their name and thumbprint, invisible ink pens for each guest, and red herring locks, and keys around the room. I also used ChatGPT to come up with a thematic element. The guests became special agent Junior detectives in search of the missing geodes, which I hid in the final locked box. They were each able to crack their own geode for it to be displayed back in the science lab from which it was stolen. It was a party to remember. Recommends JordanNov 9, 2025 Variations: Boosted Original This kit is absolutely fantastic. WELL worth the money. I used it for my son’s 10th birthday, and we themed it to be a ‘Mystery Manor’ Escape Room and made it spooky. I had 8 kids, all ages 9 and 10, and it was perfect. With that age group, I was able to use the standard clues, and rather than the modified clues. I just put our old baby monitor camera in the room so I could watch them (which was hilarious) and they rang a bell I had set out if they wanted a hint (they had 3 hints to cash in, so they had to decide as a group when they wanted to ask for one). Then I spoke in on the speaker on the camera and gave them my own hints based on what they’d gotten of the clue so far. Cannot recommend this kit enough, especially for kids around 9-12, I’d say. Don’t hesitate, just buy this kit, and you have a great kids party at home!
