Item description
Rare reproduction of the bas-relief plaque of "George Washington in Prayer at Valley Forge" 1777. The original by James Edward Kelly(1855-1933) from 1904 is located at the U.S. Sub-Treasury Building in New York City.
This measures 18" x 24" featuring detailed imagery of Washington kneeling in a forest with his horse in the background. The back includes historical context.
This appears to be raised plaster with a pressure wrapped vinyl image. Either way the relief is great. Lighting this to bring out the texture of the image will be key for display. No frame needed. There are some marks here and there around the edges but nothing that detracts from the piece overall.
Note that the depth of this is not significant at all. The shadows are part of the image to create the look of the original plaque. The relief is there as shown but it is not deep.
