Item description
AN 1821 HAND WRITTEN LETTER FROM THE STATE OF NEW YORK, FOR A BLACK REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIER NAMED ROBERT LOX, CONFIRMING THAT HE SERVED FROM MARCH 1777 UNTIL JUNE 1783 WHEN HE WAS DISCHARGED AT WESTPOINT NEW YORK. IN THE LETTER, HE IS REQUESTING A PENSION CERTIFICATE NUMBERED 8413 OR 9413 AND SWEARING HE WAS A RESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES ON THE 18TH OF MARCH 1818. The reverse of this letter has the remnants of a red seal. This piece measures approximately 12.5 inches by 8 inches. This letter also mentions John Harmon and John Dungee.
