Item description
Listed is an .800 silver cup with a flared rim and decorative lion paw feet, identified by its markings as being of Italian origin. Can be used as a cup or a vase or even as a pen holder.
The "800" mark indicates that the piece is composed of 80% pure silver and 20% alloy, typically copper. This standard, known as Continental Silver, was common in Italy and Germany during the late 19th and early 20th centuries because it was more durable than sterling silver for everyday use.
The prefix "F.lli" stands for ?Fratelli?(Brothers), indicating it was produced by a family-owned silversmith company. In fact, Sparaciari is a renowned, historic family of silversmiths and jewelers based in Rome, Italy. Known for their classic Italian craftsmanship, they specialize in fine jewelry, sterling silver, and antique repairs.
The use of lion paw feet is characteristic of Renaissance Revival or Art Deco designs from the early 1900s through the mid-20th century.
This cup weighs a hefty 108.8 grams (3.485 ounces Troy) and the only thing cooler than finding one of these is finding two!
Buy one or buy both and get a discount. One has been polished, the other has not. The unpolished one weighs slightly less at 3.425 ounces Troy.
See last photo showing both.
Will ship USPS with tracking to winning buyer
