Artisan Hand Carved Opaque Calcite Alabaster "Polar Bear in the Rough" Carving This carving has it's own uniqueness to it, definately a polar bear in the rough. Not like all those great pictures of the polar bear where you see fantastic white! In the rough wilderness their fur becomes matted, dirty and sometimes light brownish color. Of course depending on time of year! The artist whom dedicated so many hours to this carving due to the fact being legally blind/low vision decided to call it "Polar Bear in the Rough", and this hand made carving of opaque alabaster measures 3-1/4 inch at the highest part and 3-0 inches wide, approximately 1-1/2 inches thick at the base. No power tools were used.Rasps, files, hacksaw, chiesel/hammer, sanding sponge paper only, and a lot of elbow grease...
