Item description
RED HARVEST
by Olav Nordra.
Boston: Twayne Publishers/ A Division of G.K. Hall Co., (1978).
First edition in English.
Translated from Norwegian with an eight page explanatory introduction by Erik J. Friis.
The 32nd book in The Library of Scandinavian Literature series, published under the auspices of the Norwegian Culture Council in Olso, Norway.
A highly lauded historical novel set in the 1850s depicting the conflicts between the nomadic Lapps, the Norwegians, and the government, with a realistically detailed account of the Kautokeino riot and the government's reprisal, which has been likened to Native American Indian history.
A few faint speckles to the upper page edges, else very nearly fine, very tight and unread in waxed blue linen with blind embossed Scandinavian Literature insignia to the front cover, and with gilt embossed titles to the spine, blue-and-yellow headband and tail-band; in a near fine dust jacket with tiny tears and rubs to the upper and lower spine edges and corner tips.
Octavo; 190 pages; plus glossary; plus introduction.
