Item description
Here we a beautifully preserved 1800's manicure implement. These were commonly used in the late 1800s to early 1900s, especially during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The “D” hallmark belongs to Dominick Haff, a well-known American silversmith company founded in 1872. They used a fancy script “D” as part of their marks. They were later absorbed by Reed Barton around 1928.
Summary: Overall it is in very good condition, despite the black smudges that you're able to remove with a simple cleaning. There's no chips or breaks on the item, and the handle is completely readable and not scratched.
• Item: Victorian/Edwardian manicure blade
• Material: Sterling silver handle
• Maker: Dominick Haff
• Date range: Ours is very likely from the 1880s however these remained in use until the 1920s.
